Your Downtown Dental Health
With a tight-knit small-community atmosphere, but just a short distance away from bustling downtown Calgary, Bridgeland is our home. Our goal is to build great relationships with you and the citizens and families of our neighbourhood. Most importantly, help you make informed decisions about your oral health. Once you’ve decided on a treatment plan, we’ll strive to make your visit comfortable and convenient, while still delivering high-quality dental care downtown.
In 2017, the Alberta Dental Association and College unveiled the new dental fee guide for our province—the first of its kind in twenty years.
Most importantly, the new dental fee guide, allows all our patients to feel comfortable knowing that they're paying exactly what they're supposed to pay. Therefore, are proud to say as of 2018, Bridgeland Crossings Dental Clinic is Fee Guide Compliant.
More than just a “checkup”, we evaluate your jaw muscles, jaw joint (TMJ), occlusion (or “bite”) and how they can lead to future tooth wear/pain.
Additionally, we do an oral cancer screening at every exam, and closely examine your gums for gum disease, inflammation and bone loss.
Moreover, we examine each and every tooth for cracks, decay, broken fillings, and discolouration. To do this we use a couple of different cameras so that we can show you on a computer monitor what your teeth look like up close!
These are a MUST for you hockey/football/rugby players, as well as MMA/boxers.
Not only can they help reduce concussive effects, but wearing one can help save you from months of costly treatment to fix a blow to your teeth.
Root Canals, Bridges, & Crowns
Sometimes teeth with deep decay, large cracks, or abscesses end up needing root canal therapy in order to get you feeling comfortable.By removing the infected, inflamed, and painful internal nerve and replacing it with a filling material, we can get you out of pain while still saving your tooth.
A bridge helps replace a missing tooth. The two teeth on either side of the missing-tooth-gap have a thin layer of tooth structure removed just like with a crown, and then a porcelain bridge consisting of “two crowns connected by an artificial tooth” is made to fill the gap.
If a tooth has a large cavity or old filling, or has a large crack/fracture, we may recommend a crown. A porcelain crown is a durable restoration that covers the biting surface of the tooth and wraps around it 360 degrees in order to seal the tooth and hold it together to prevent it from breaking down more. Crowns are also usually needed after a root canal on a back tooth to prevent future leakage, re-infection, or irreparable tooth fracture.
Hygiene, Laser Treatment & Periodontal Gum Therapy
There is emerging evidence supporting the correlation between oral disease and systemic health such as cardiovascular disease, arthritis and diabetes. At our downtown dental clinic, Bridgeland Crossings Dental, we provide thorough dental hygiene therapy in order to prevent and treat disease. We encourage communication and education in order for our patients to have a full understanding of their oral status and work with patients to provide the regularly scheduled care needed to reach optimal health. Numerous studies have shown that low-level laser therapy can reduce the number of harmful bacteria in and around your gums, so we aim to utilize this treatment at your hygiene appointments.
This is one of the more ground-breaking advances in dentistry. Our 3-D technology has far less radiation compared to the machines used in hospitals and the medical field, yet provides us with a lot of useful information about your oral health. With one image, we can examine your upper and lower jaws in 3 views for bone cysts, certain tumours, airway issues, jaw joint degradation, sinus infections, chronic infections around any of your teeth roots, and the shape and positions of the nerves in and around teeth, which helps make treatment more predictable. This downtown dental office is equipped with great technology.
From “happy visits” for your inquisitive little one, to routine exams, cleaning, and filling appointments for your older ones, we’re happy to see your kids here at Bridgeland Crossings Dental. We follow the Canadian Dental Association’s guideline by recommending the dental assessment of an infant within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth or by one year of age. All in the convenience of downtown Calgary.
