Exams

Exams

More than just a “checkup”, we evaluate your jaw muscles, jaw joint (TMJ), occlusion (or “bite”) and how they can lead to future tooth wear/pain. We do an oral cancer screening at every exam, and closely examine your gums for gum disease, inflammation and bone loss. We examine each and every tooth for cracks, decay, broken fillings, and discolouration, and use a couple of different cameras so that we can show you on a computer monitor what your teeth look like up close!

Dentistry

Dentistry

From “happy visits” for your inquisitive little one, to routine exams, cleaning, and filling appointments for your older ones, we’re happy to see your kids here at Bridgeland Crossings Dental. We follow the Canadian Dental Association’s guideline by recommending the dental assessment of an infant within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth or by one year of age.

Sports Guards

Sports Guards

These are a MUST for you hockey/football/rugby players, as well as MMA/boxers. Not only can they help reduce concussive effects, but wearing one can help save you from months of costly treatment to fix a blow to your teeth.

Hygiene, Laser Treatment & Periodontal Gum Therapy

Hygiene, Laser Treatment & Periodontal Gum Therapy

There is emerging evidence supporting the correlation between oral disease and systemic health such as cardiovascular disease, arthritis and diabetes. At Bridgeland Crossings Dental, we provide thorough dental hygiene therapy in order to prevent and treat disease. We encourage communication and education in order for our patients to have a full understanding of their oral status and work with patients to provide the regularly scheduled care needed to reach optimal health.

Numerous studies have shown that low-level laser therapy can reduce the number of harmful bacteria in and around your gums, so we aim to utilize this treatment at your hygiene appointments.

Intraoral, Extraoral Photography & 3D Scans

Intraoral, Extraoral Photography & 3D Scans

Ever tried to look at your top back molar in a mirror? It’s almost impossible. Using a combination of up close intraoral cameras and outside-the-mouth DSLR cameras, we can show you exactly what we see with your teeth and gums, and help you understand what we’re talking about. Taking photos of your teeth also helps when communicating with your insurance company, as well as with the laboratory that is making your custom-shaded crown, bridge, or veneer.

3D Scans

This is one of the more ground-breaking advances in dentistry. Our 3-D technology has far less radiation compared to the machines used in hospitals and the medical field, yet provides us with a lot of useful information about your oral health. With one image, we can examine your upper and lower jaws in 3 views for bone cysts, certain tumours, airway issues, jaw joint degradation, sinus infections, chronic infections around any of your teeth roots, and the shape and positions of the nerves in and around teeth, which helps make treatment more predictable.

X-rays, Photography & 3D Scans

X-rays, Photography & 3D Scans

Low Radiation Digital XRays

Our digital radiograph system uses much less radiation than traditional film x-rays, equivalent to about the same amount you would get from being out in the sun on a summer day. Having annual digital radiographs allows us to zoom in order to be better able to spot any signs of decay, infection, or bone loss/gum disease early, when it is easier, faster, and cheaper to fix a potential problem!

Root Canals, Bridges & Crowns

Root Canals, Bridges & Crowns

ROOT CANAL THERAPY

Sometimes teeth with deep decay, large cracks, or abscesses end up needing root canal therapy in order to get you feeling comfortable. By removing the infected, inflamed, and painful internal nerve and replacing it with a filling material, we can get you out of pain while still saving your tooth.

BRIDGES

A bridge helps replace a missing tooth. The two teeth on either side of the missing-tooth-gap have a thin layer of tooth structure removed just like with a crown, and then a porcelain bridge consisting of “two crowns connected by an artificial tooth” is made to fill the gap.

PORCELAIN CROWNS

If a tooth has a large cavity or old filling, or has a large crack/fracture, we may recommend a crown. A porcelain crown is a durable restoration that covers the biting surface of the tooth and wraps around it 360 degrees in order to seal the tooth and hold it together to prevent it from breaking down more. Crowns are also usually needed after a root canal on a back tooth to prevent future leakage, re-infection, or irreparable tooth fracture.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants

GRAFTING

If you have been missing a tooth for a while, the bone that held the tooth in can shrink away. Sometimes we need to do a grafting procedure to either add bone or tissue to an area, or reduce the amount that the bone and tissue shrinks after a tooth is removed. This graft leaves an adequate amount of bone and tissue to place a dental implant in, or make a bridge fit better and not trap food.

IMPLANTS FOR DENTURE SUPPORT

In some cases, dental implants can be used to help anchor a denture to prevent it from rocking or sliding around when talking or eating.

DIGITALLY-GUIDED DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental implants are artificial roots, placed below the gums, that we can attach crowns to in order to replace missing teeth. We can virtually place an implant in your jaw using our 3D scan in order to position it well away from adjacent tooth roots or nerves, and then have a guide fabricated that helps to place the implant in your mouth in the exact same way that we planned it.  This pre-planning can help the procedure more predictable. After your bone integrates and “locks” into the implant for a few months, you would be ready for the crown or replacement tooth to be attached! Dental implants have the advantage of being conservative - the two adjacent teeth don’t need to be shaved down like they would with a bridge.
